Simon Anton is an internationally recognized multi-disciplinary artist based in Detroit. Simon has pioneered and explored many techniques for remanufacturing plastic waste, and among his many projects are a series of roto-molded plastic objects made from recycled plastic scraps.

Simon came to ABK Engineering for assistance expanding his existing roto-molder to increase its capacity and allow him to mold larger pieces. We consulted on his build and supplied components to make his project a success:

• Custom control cabinet with solid-state heating controls, PID temperature control with a thermocouple probe built into the oven, and motor speed/direction control
• Component selection to use off-the-shelf heating elements as an inexpensive heat source
• Design support for motor selection and control
• Install and commissioning of control cabinet and oven wiring

The result is a multipurpose electric oven that Simon continues to use to make his sought-after recycled plastic art.
