This customer ran a testing lab that made use of recirculating chillers to heat and cool automotive battery pack modules. Their facility recently added a new model of chiller that wasn’t integrated with their existing automation software, and the lab did not have 24/7 onsite presence. They needed to be able to adjust the setpoint of the chiller remotely to avoid frequent trips to the lab to push buttons.

As a quick-turnaround solution, ABK Engineering built a very simple browser-based interface to control the chiller over HTTP. This pared-down controller could be delivered much faster than the customer was able to integrate the chiller into their internal software, and allowed them to start testing with the new chiller much sooner than they could have otherwise. As an added benefit, the customer found that the browser interface was quite useful during test fixture setup and commissioning, when staff often needed to make ad-hoc adjustments to the cooling loops.
